Who We Are

Bananas is a free app at playbananas.org offering hundreds of screen-free games for parents and kids. We are an independent, family-run project — not a corporation.

What We Collect

We only collect information you actively give us:

• Name and email address — when you join The Village (our free membership). This lets you save favorites and submit games.
• Game submissions — the name, description, and details of any game you choose to submit. These may be published in the app if approved.
• Saved games (favorites) — which games you've hearted, so we can show them to you across sessions.
• Basic usage data — anonymous information about how the app is used (e.g. which screens are visited), collected via Firebase. This is never tied to your name or email.

We do not collect location data, payment information, device identifiers, or any data about children directly. Bananas is designed to be used by parents.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information only to:

• Let you save and retrieve your favorite games
• Send you transactional emails — welcome when you join, confirmation when you submit a game, and notification if your game is approved
• Review and (if approved) publish game submissions to the app
• Understand how the app is being used so we can improve it

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any automated decision-making.

Who We Share It With

We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for their own purposes. We use a small number of trusted services to operate the app:

• Google Firebase / Firestore — our database, hosted by Google. Your name, email, favorites, and submissions are stored here.
• Resend — the email delivery service we use to send you transactional emails. They receive your email address solely to deliver messages from us.
• Netlify — our web hosting provider. They serve the app to your browser.

All three are reputable, GDPR-compliant services. None of them receive your data for their own marketing purposes.

Children's Privacy (COPPA)

Bananas is designed to be used by parents and caregivers, not directly by children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

The app itself — playing games, browsing categories — requires no account and collects no data. Only Village membership (joining, saving favorites, submitting games) involves any data collection, and that is intended for the adult parent or guardian.

If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, please contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it promptly.

How Long We Keep Your Data

We keep your data for as long as you have an account with us. If you'd like us to delete your name, email, favorites, and submissions, just email us and we'll take care of it within 7 days.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Ask what data we hold about you
• Ask us to correct inaccurate data
• Ask us to delete your data
• Withdraw from The Village at any time

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your data — including Firestore Security Rules, Firebase Authentication, input sanitization, and HTTPS enforcement. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep ours as locked down as a small independent app can be.

Our Social Media

We run @playbananas on TikTok and @play.bananas on Instagram. These are separate from the app. Any data those platforms collect is governed by TikTok's and Instagram's own privacy policies — not ours.

We may partner with brands or creators on those platforms. Those partnerships have no connection to the data you share with us in the app.

If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top and — if the changes are significant — email Village members to let them
