Privacy Policy

Bananas (playbananas.org) is a free app of screen-free games for parents to play with their kids. It's built and maintained by a small independent team that genuinely believes kids deserve more imaginative, screen-free play.

Bananas works without an account. If you choose to join The Village (our optional membership), we collect:

• Your first name — so we can greet you personally
• Your email address — so you can log back in (we don't send marketing email)
• Games you save as favorites
• Game ratings and notes you choose to write
• Games you submit to the community

Bananas is designed for parents and caregivers. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13.

The app is meant to be used by an adult alongside their child — the games are read and run by the grown-up. Children are players, not users of the app itself.

We use the information you provide only to run the app for you:

• Log you back into your Village account
• Save and display your favorite games and ratings
• Show community-submitted games you've contributed
• Improve the game library based on what's being played

We do not use your data to:

• Send you marketing emails
• Target you with ads
• Sell or share your information with third parties
• Build advertising profiles

We use Google Firebase (Firestore) to store Village member data securely. Firebase is governed by Google's privacy policy. We use Firebase only for the specific data described above — nothing more.

We use Google Fonts to render typography. This may result in a network request to Google's servers when you load the app.

We do not use any advertising SDKs, tracking pixels, or analytics services that share data with third parties.

We collect basic, anonymous usage events (e.g. "a game was viewed", "a category was selected") to understand which games families love most. This data is not tied to your identity and is stored in our own Firebase project.

You can ask us at any time to:

• Access the data we have on your account
• Delete your Village account and all associated data
• Correct any inaccurate information

Just email us and we'll take care of it promptly. No hoops to jump through.

Your data is stored in Google Firebase with Firestore security rules that restrict access to your own records only. We use Firebase anonymous authentication so the app works without creating credentials that could be compromised.

We take reasonable precautions, but no internet service can guarantee 100% security. We'll notify you promptly if we ever become aware of a breach affecting your data.

If we ever make meaningful changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top and — if the changes are significant — we'll let Village members know via the email they signed up with.
